An Insight, Improvement, and Reflection
Quote of the Week
“Even in literature and art, no man who bothers about originality will ever be original: whereas if you simply try to tell the truth (without caring how often it has been told before) you will, nine times out of ten, become original without ever having noticed it.”
—C.S. Lewis
FAMILY INSIGHT
The best parts of life are not new forms of entertainment. No modern technology can match the pleasure I get to experience every week at the table with my parents, wife, children, and grandchildren.
Naval once tweeted, “A fit body, a calm mind, a house full of love. These things cannot be bought - they must be earned.” Never give up on that last one. Build that house of love and drink in its delights.
ONE IMPROVEMENT
Some people are natural encouragers. I’m not one of them. I often think of how amazing my wife and kids are, but I tend to keep those thoughts to myself. Not good.
We owe our family words of encouragement. Find ways to deliver those words. They are food for the soul.

PERSONAL REFLECTION
This picture popped up on our family chat. A few days later, I asked April what that was, and she said “sibling lunch”. April worked hard to establish a weekly practice when our kids were teens to go out to lunch together. We’d pay, and they learned to love this tradition. Now they make this happen on their own and with the new in-law sibs.
